About the Sony RDR-GX7

For Sony, designing a "me-too" piece of gear isn't even an option. So it's no surprise that their first DVD recorder looks and works like no other recorder we've seen. Once you experience the convenience, quality, and durability of DVD recording, you'll never go back to tapes. The "plus" formats (DVD+R and DVD+RW) are the latest to become available on component DVD recorders. These formats provide broad compatibility with current DVD players.

The RDR-GX7 has recording features familiar to anyone who's used a VCR: a built-in TV tuner, clock/timer, and VCR Plus+®. Sony lets you choose the right type of blank disc for the job, whether it's rewriteable (erasable) DVD-RW or DVD+RW for "time-shifting" your favorite TV shows, or write-once DVD-R for archiving precious family videos. Recording to DVD enables quick and precise editing. For example, using a DVD-RW disc you can record several shows in one session, then go back afterwards and manually insert separate chapter markers for each show. Choose from several recording modes ranging from 1-hour (highest quality) to 6-hour (VHS-quality).

Sony made this recorder super-easy to use, with a polished onscreen interface, and smooth search modes. A front-panel i.LINK™ jack makes it easy to record directly from a digital camcorder — you can even do one-touch dubbing!

Naturally, the RDR-GX7 is also a splendid DVD player, with the ability to play movies in either standard or progressive-scan mode.
