Potentiometers and switches cleaned and lubricated
drive belt replaced
Heads and Capstan thoroughly cleaned.
Track number display switch removed, cleaned, and Re-lubricated
 (Limiter switch let you record at a higher average level without worrying that sudden transient peaks will over- load the tape or heads and cause distortion)
Several tapes were played with no issues

***Don't forget to check your 8 tracks for worn or deteriorated pressure pads. Many 8 track tapes will need these be replaced for proper operation. Often without good pressure pads the tapes will be eaten so take heed*** It is true that it is always a defective tape NOT the player that causes tapes to be "eaten"
